The Sassy Celebrants difference…

Sassy Celebrants from Sassy Celebrants on Vimeo.

When you book a celebrant make sure they have a back up plan. This weekend I (Sassy Kez) couldn’t perform a ceremony as my son was taken to emergency.

One call out to the Sassy Celebrants team and I had a back up in place and out to meet the couple within minutes.

That’s the Sassy Celebrant difference – we are a team.

We back each other up and no matter which Sassy Celebrant you book, you are getting an amazing, vibrant celebrant who will do their best for you. — with Kim Oakhill – Modern Civil Celebrant, Vows Now – Marriage Celebrant, Kim McCartin Civil Celebrant, Monty King Celebrations, Nell Dark-Jones – Celebrant, Wed By Kez and Married By Timothy.

Sassy Bus makes some noise at Lovedale Long Lunch 2016

Sassy Celebrants Lovedale Long Lunch 2016 V2.0 from Sassy Celebrants on Vimeo.

It was always going to get messy when you throw a bunch of Sassy Celebrants, their clients, wedding industry peers, friends and family on a bus heading towards Lovedale and copious amounts of wine.

Leaving Newcastle in the very early hours of Sunday morning [ok, it was 10am but that is early on a Sunday] the Sassy Bus took on Wandin Estate, Sandalyn and finishing at Tatler. Songs were sung, music was danced to, wine was definitely drunk and the mood was sleepy but happy as the bus pulled back into the Queen’s Wharf Brewery some 8 hours later.

The final comment made by all who attended “Let’s do it again next year!”

Weekend Wrap Up #9 Sassy Celebrants Newcastle Modern Celebrants

Sassy Jo – Vows Now

Wedding No.1. – Saturday at Vows Now Wyee.

This was a totally secret elopement with my husband and son as witnesses, I sat at my dining table and helped a delightful couple Get JUST Married®. There are no photos, no names will be revealed, it was short and sweet with no fluff whatsoever. Our secret couple said the absolute minimum legal wording and signed the paperwork.
It was exactly what they asked for.

Wedding No. 2 – Saturday in their own home. David and Estelle

Estelle is 8 days shy of 80 years old and has been with David for almost 34 years. A recent health scare prompted David to get serious and make Estelle his wife. Estelle swirled around in her lovely outfit, with flowers that they ordered online, ’cause she was so happy to be marrying her David. David cried for the whole brief ceremony because he was so bloody happy that he made it to today and married his gorgeous bride.
I was chuffed for both of them and hope they get another 20 years together. Daughter Karen made the delicious wedding cake. Photos were taken by Sassy Jo and the 5 lovely guests.

What a weekend!

First up, an afternoon trip down the freeway to the big smoke – my very first Sydney wedding! And what a treat – Bradleys Head Ampitheatre is like a hollywood movie location for weddings! Krystal and Jordan couldn’t stop smiling, as they sealed the deal with their closest family and friends. It was pretty awesome to have cheers from the harbour throughout, as it seemed the whole world was sharing in our excitement!

Ceremony Venue: Bradleys Head Ampitheatre

Photographer: @InlightenPhotography

First thing Saturday morning, we packed up our caravan and gorgeous little family, and took off up the Buckets Way to Riverwood Downs for Brooke and Nathan’s amazing country wedding. The attention to detail was seriously, ahmazeballs! Check out some of the instagram pics by @Mariannefowlerphotography and @mylittlepeonyau to see for yourself! There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Brooke was given away by their gorgeous little boy, Noah, and the ceremony was a mix of laughs, tears (happy ones of course) and beautiful, real, raw emotion! Brooke and Nathan’s grandfathers were the proudest witnesses I’ve ever seen in my life. So many warm fuzzies! I’m so grateful to be part of these special moments.

Saturday 30.04.2016Love in all its wondrous forms <3

It was an absolute pleasure to unite Cameron & John in love & life on Saturday at Callemondah Guides Campsite – a meaningful ceremony sprinkled with little laughs, huge smiles, hugs & kisses all round – followed by a glamorous Gatsby themed reception, just perfection!

Congratulations and big love to John & Cameron <3

Sunday 01.05.2016

I spent the day hanging out with some lovely couples and fellow wedding industry folks at Tomago House c1843- National Trust NSW non-profit organisation at the Two Hearts Wedding Festival. I even snuck in some photobooth fun with Click Tag Print

Tthank you to Lynda and all the lovely volunteers at Tomago House for taking care of us all on the day, rockstar treatment 😀

Sassy Monty – Monty King Celebrations

Saturday afternoon at Glen Oak.
Whenever I’m performing a ceremony I always make myself scarce at kissing time, so I don’t look like a weirdo lurking in the background in the photos. After the ceremony is a different story…..
I’ve known Nicole for about 10 years, so I was super stoked when she asked me to do all the legal stuff on her and Pete’s big day. Thanks so much guys for having me play a part today, no doubt the celebration will be going long into the night! 🎉🍻🍾🍸🍷🍹

Friday afternoon at Mercure Resort Hunter Valley Gardens.
I tell you what, pretty much the best thing about this job is the people you meet along the way. Jessie and Iain are deadset legends and I was stoked to play a little part in their big day this afternoon. Thank you so much guys!

Sassy Kez – Wed By Kez

#‎friday‬ @Mindaribba Weddings I married the awesome Jen and Tim. They had a cat sit on a pew the whole during their ceremony. Curly Tree Photography took care of the photos so you know they were in the best of hands. I fell in love with The Coconut Trio who are actually a duo but AMAZHING!

It was a beautiful ceremony and perfection all round.

‪#‎saturday‬ Wedding No 1. Averil and Gil.

ooohh I heart emoticon this wedding with every single fibre in my being. It was full of laughter, love and the occasional snot joke as Gil could not stop the tears and hence had a runny nose the entire ceremony.

Avery couldn’t tell Gil’s left hand from his right and everyone laughed and cried their way through the simple, but perfect ceremony. Stanley Park is looking exception this time of year and Wayne from Thierry Boudan Photography was behind the lens and I cannot WAIT to see the photos.

One of my top 10 ceremonies and will always be remembered.

‪#‎saturday‬ Wedding No 2. Stan and Leanne with a “Registry Style” Ceremony at their home in Kotara. Minus their two giant poodles sadly.
Two people in love, 14 guests in total and one simple, elegant ceremony to get it done. I love how easy it was.

‪#‎Sunday‬ Back to @mindaribba House and Shannon and Nathan said their “I do’s” with Wow Flowers earning their name. The arbour was so WOW! James Goff Photography was their to capture all the great moments and it was an honour to marry to fellow Mayfieldians.

Congrats to all my awesome couples this weekend. I’m having a wine tonight!!

A legendary Thursday special!

Dave & Cristy looked AMAZING at their intimate ceremony on Thursday afternoon, at home at Caves Beach with family and friends. Was an absolute pleasure to be there, thanks guys 🙂

Saturday – Festival of the ring – Part 1. Steve and Alicia, deadset legends! A fantastic setting at IronBark Hill Vineyard chapel, there were laughs, cheers and a dancing bridal party! I had an awesome time, thank you so much for having me!

Saturday – Festival of the ring – Part 2. Old mate of mine Keith and his stunning bride Kellie, at the site of my under 18s rugby league glory days, Singleton Showground. Kellie looked amazing in the autumn afternoon light, Keith scrubbed up ok too. Thanks for the icy cold beer to finish too guys!

Sassy Kez – Wed By Kez

Was just waiting on the nod from a surprise wedding before I got to telling you all about my weekend.

Friday I had the awesome Danielle and Will of the House Bischoff [Game of Thrones anyone?] at King Edward Park with the gorgeous Candice Campbell Photography taking the snaps. It was a perfect day, a perfect ceremony and Danielle left me an awesome review which you can check out on this page.

Saturday Kira-Lee and Dale, their two witnesses and MWJC Photography met up at Greyson park and Kira-Lee and Dale got married under the figtrees with their beautiful sleeping son Harley by their side.

Saturday afternoon Jessica and Scott said their “I do’s” at Hunter Wetlands Centre Australia. It was my first ceremony there and I hope not the last. Can’t wait to see the photos from Exquisite Photography when they come in. [Just quietly Jess’s little girl Harlow stole the show and gave Daddy Scott the biggest, most beautiful smile! when he gave he a necklace]

Sunday morning, Thornton Community Centre we celebrated Harley’s birthday and naming and then dropped the bombshell that Kira-Lee and Dale were ALREADY married!

BIG weekend, Im buzzing from it. Taking loads of 2017 enquiries to… and It feels like I’ll be travelling a lot next year! Love what i do!

Sassy Kez – Wed By Kez

My weekend.

Friday it was a drive and a bit to Broke, out to the fabulous Margan Family Wines Hunter Valley for Kate and Aaron to marry in front of their close friends and family. Something Blue Photography and Cinematography was in charge – so you know the photos are special.

Special mention to Mum who accidentally managed to break the pen mid-witnessing the marriage documents. Not to worry – we tore the pen apart and just used the ink refill and as I told mum “If we have to sign it in blood, we will – these two are getting married”

It’s already late but we just couldn’t wait to share…

Saturday – packed the kids and my father-in-law into the car for a trek to Riverwood Downs Mountain Valley Resort for Lea and Kurt and their awesome ceremony. Lea and Kurt are teachers so you know there was fun to have with that… Matts Photography by Matt Streatfeild was the man on the canon and he makes it so easy!
Laughs, love and great fun all weekend!

Congrats to all the newlyweds xx

Sassy Kim – Kim Oakhill Modern Celebrant

Claire and Rob! What a location! Months and months of hard work, love and devotion preparing your amazing property for your big day! Your Chapel of Love was sensational, your dance floor – oh my – so devine! And best of all, the most amazing vibe during your ceremony which started with Rob greeting his bride by shaking her hand – what a gentleman! You guys rock! Big love always xx ‪#‎weddingselfie‬ ‪#‎backyardwedding‬‪#‎kimoakillcelebrant‬ ‪#‎sassycelebrant‬

The journey for Tim and Jess started back in December 2008 when Jess made a photo collage and needed a frame. As fate would have it, she walked in to the shop that Tim worked in and well, he obviously did a pretty good job framing that collage! Congrats groovers! Big love xx

Baby George and his amazing parents, Stevie and Adrian! This adorable little man was perfect during his special Naming Ceremony! heart emoticon They lit candles to remember loved ones and we all made wishes and sent them up to the stars to come true for George. Talk about perfection!

My Saturday afternoon started with a sun-filled sweetest of bridal shower afternoon teas at the Fernleigh Cafe for my BFF’s upcoming nuptials (yes, I’ll be officiating and YES, you bet I’m kid-given-free-reign-of-a-lolly-shop level excitable over that one!). The cake from Hello Naomi | cakes cupcakes cookies was divine, the cafe’s catering faultless 😍

A little later that afternoon, it was out to the beautiful Bistro Molines (what a view!) to wed the gorgeousness that is Erin & Nathan – a ceremony with soul, laughs & giggles, a sprinkle of happy tears and some of the biggest brightest smiles I’ve ever seen! Can’t wait for a sneak peak of Meg Kelly Photography photos of the day. Congratulations Newlyweds 💛

Sassy Jules – Hunter Valley Ceremonies

Nother busy weekend for me with 3 glorious weddings.

Fri: Jamie and Breanna, Wandin valley estate, photos Justin Aaron, the clever Jess at the wedding designers setting up a very green affair – is there anything they can’t do !

Sat: the cutest childhood sweethearts Trent and Kira at HVG.

Sun: Jason and Mona at Margan in Broke. Gotta say – I love weddings with a big multicultural crowd….they were all so kind afterwards making the effort to come up and compliment me about the ceremony…. They sooo get the community spirit. Coupled with working with the lovely Rog from Popcorn Photography (and Corey on video) Left me driving home on a high. A great weekend of lovin.

Another stunning (tad warm!) day in the Hunter Valley and surrounds on Saturday.

Early afternoon it was off to Mulbring NSW for Troy & Eleasha’s nuptials – Held at their awesome property [what a view!] with their gorgeous little guy Oli by their sides, and Thierry Boudan Photography on hand to capture the smiles and laughs in the brightest of bright sunshine! Congratulations Newlyweds heart emoticon

Then it was a quick detour through Cessnock to Peterson House for Rachel & Trent’s later afternoon ceremony, their smiles almost outshone the sun (almost!). Little Black Bow Photographyexpertly handled the official camera duties, Free Willy and the Grace Brothers provided the sweet sweet tunes and Rachel’s bouqet by Flowers By Lorey was admired by all. Congratulations Mr & Mrs M!

Sassy Kim – Kim Oakhill Modern Celebrant
On Saturday, I married my beautiful little cousin off to her love 🙂 The ceremony was filled with lots of laughs and a few tears, and heaps of references to family – especially my Aunty and Uncle (the proud parents of the bride!)
The venue was pretty spectacular (Hillstone St Lucia) and the band (Benjam) were amazeballs! They even had a roving PA system strapped to them as they cruised around the crowd for cocktails on the deck straight after the ceremony!

(At Black Creek Farm) Madeleine, Eivind and a pug called Wilma! What a cracking day! Super cool peeps, top location, perfect conditions! Thank you so much for having me guys. It was an absolute pleasure!
Was also great to work with legends Duke The Band & Ben Adams Photography again and meet the guys from In A Maze Films.
Days like today are why I do what I do!
Sassy Kez – Wed By Kez

Yesterday was bliss! I don’t do many weddings in Sydney but now that Harry is getting older I can be away from him longer.

So, a 2 hour drive down the F3 and there I was at McKell Park on Darling Point. It was just gorgeous!

There was an earlier ceremony and I got to see @Justin Aaron Photography [because when you are not in Newcastle you always run into Novocastrians] and met the lovely Kathryn Breusch Civil Celebrant! Always great to meet a bright bubbly celebrant

Then the ceremony Adna and Ben are just a stunningly gorgeous couple and their beautiful family make the perfect picture. Speaking of pictures I got to work with Tealilyphotography and they were awesome. Can’t wait to see photos.

Then @Bottlebrush Films who are from Melbourne were there for the video. It was an East coast affair and I loved every second of it.

Congrats Mr and Mr O!!! and thanks for letting me be a part of your day x

3 for me!

11.30am marriage after 13.5 years together at a backyard in Ashtonfield – Family and friends were the photographers and they went up to the local pub for lunch to celebrate! Congrats Belinda and Gary!

Then a quick break drafting ceremonies in Maitland Park, then set up my spare PA in the park for my 4pm wedding! Before heading off to a beautiful pretty at Bolwarra Heights for Laura and Jake for 3pm. Their vintage styled wedding was absolutely amazing and I have no doubt that many of their images will end up on future brides’ Pinterest boards!

Hot foot back to Maitland Park to marry Jacquie and Josh. There was a drone flying above to capture the bride’s arrival and ceremony from the air, which made me a little nervous (I had images of being sconned in the head!) but everything went perfectly and I can’t wait to see the footage!

Now I’m on the Gold Coast hanging out with my gorgeous little fam at Paradise Resort for some well deserved R&R.

So my weekend started with Codie and Chris at Burwood Lookout. I’ve never done a ceremony there and can I just say it has an amazing view! I love that its a little private oasis perfect for intimate ceremonies.

Codie and Chris were just the perfect mix of chilled, nervous and excited and surrounded by friends and family it was an awesome ceremony.

Sunday it was off to the Central Coast for a naming of little Benjamin. I had done the naming for his big little sister Addison 4 years ago.

The surprise for all guests was that Ben’s parents, Lesley and Jason had also arrange to renew their vows at the same time, celebrating their beautiful family and 10 years married!

All in all, a fabulous weekend of love and laughter and happiness.

Kas and Greg had the cutest ring bearer – their fur baby, Drift (who was very well behaved I must add, and guarded the rings with his life!)

Kim also performed two baby naming ceremonies on the weekend. Emma was all smiles for her afternoon ceremony at Fern Bay Park surrounded with her family and friends wearing an outfit that has been passed down for generations, and little Thea was an angel, blowing kisses and rasberries for her ceremony in her granparents backyard at Whitebridge on Sunday.

Sassy Kez – Wed By Kez

So I have to tell you about my day yesterday because as far as Celebrant Wedding Days go… it was freaking tops!

3pm: Carly and Ant got married at Noah’s On the Beach – Quality Hotel. Yep Carly said to me “We are going to have the wedding inside because I don’t want the stress of having to worry about the weather and if I have it at Noah’s I get a beach view all the same”

Seriously, I wanted to leap over the table and kiss her but Ant might have been a bit funny about that!

Nicole Butler Photography was in charge of making sure all the love, laughs and [happy] tears were caught on film and all in all I was buzzing with happy wedding vibes.

6pm: Still on a high I got to marry Tracey and Fraser in the park just opposite their house with their closest friends and family drinking champagne and rowdily joining in on the ceremony action.

Tracey even sang a line from the Bay City Rollers in her vows.

I have a feeling there were a few sore heads this morning after the party that was to follow but there was loads of love and laughs.

It was a day I will never forget and will be talking about for years to come xx
