Here we were thinking it’s 2020, same sex marriage has been a thing for a good two years now. We shouldn’t have to promote the fact that we are totally, 100% behind any two people who love each other getting married, regardless of gender or preference or pronoun.
But it turns out we do…
Often members of the LGBTQI+ community will contact Sassy Celebrants about their wedding saying that they have approached other celebrants and been dealt with rudely. Too often the emails are worded like “We’re a gay/same sex/lesbian etc etc couple… hope that’s ok.” At Sassy Celebrants that is TOTALLY A-OK! (And those people who are making you feel bad about your relationship can &^*! right off.)
Just in case we’re not being totally clear. Sassy Celebrants will marry any two people we legally can, wherever we can. No questions, concerns, comments. Every single Sassy Celebrant is an advocate for equality in all forms.
We also strongly recommend that if at any point you are dealing with a celebrant who is displaying discriminatory behaviour you take the opportunity to acquaint yourselves with the Marriage Celebrant Code of Practice.
